Reporting to our ICT Data Architect, the ICT Data Engineer will be responsible for delivery and maintenance of the VWUK Data Platform ingestion layer and data pipelines. On larger, more intricate projects, the role may also involve tasks typical of an ICT Data Analyst.
Responsibilities
* Design, build and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines to support analytics and reporting needs for the ICT Data and Reporting team and the business units they support.
* Ensure efficient extraction, transformation and loading of data across the company data platform.
* Develop and maintain pipelines that serve the following layers of the VWUK Data Platform architecture:
o Data extraction layer
o Data loading / staging layer
o Data transformation layer
o Data visualisation layer
* Collaborate with data analysts, report writers and business stakeholders to understand data requirements.
* Participate in scoping, development, testing, deployment, change management, incident management, governance, security and quality activities.
Qualifications
* Strong demonstrable experience as a Data Engineer in an Azure environment for medium to large organisations.
* Preferable to have Azure qualifications or certifications for data engineering.
* Expertise in ETL / ELT processes.
* Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in relevant subjects, or equivalent on‑job experience or professional certification.
* Experience in the construction industry is desirable.
