The Role:

To contribute to excellent service levels across the Transport, Warehouse dayshift and evening shift operation. To drive business improvement through innovation, technology and constant review of all processes. Maximise efficiencies, improve cross-departmental processes across and within Goods-in and Goods-out, and the Transport function to enhance our customer-oriented, solutions-focused team culture.

Essential

* Experience managing people in all aspects of the employee lifecycle, coaching, mentoring, and team-building skills.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, relationship building, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
* Excellent presentation skills, and the ability to deliver training & team briefings, 1-2-1's and appraisals.
* Leadership potential, the ability to listen, coach and mentor others for success.
* Good understanding of project management and lean process mapping.
* Good level of Mathematics, experience working with data analysis, statistics, delivering insights.
* Customer Service Focus, an analytical approach.
* Process-oriented individual, with a passion for continuous improvement, excellent IT skills and the ability to pick up new systems quickly.
* An action-oriented individual, who is solutions focussed, can manage multiple priorities and deliver results on time.
* Able to demonstrate knowledge of managing change in a challenging environment.
* A good team player with strong attention to detail, good problem-solving skills, and experience, knowledge of, or willingness to learn Health and Safety, Food Safety, and HACCP procedures.
* Experience managing budgets effectively, including cost management.
* Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems and ideally experience using RF or Voice technology. #
* PC holder
* Experience preparing and managing action plans and budgets effectively including cost management.

Desirable

* Experience of business change in a supply chain, retail, or wholesale business.
* Experience implementing process improvements and controls.
* Experience in a supervisory role involving training, team briefings, 1-2-1's, and appraisal's.
* Experience working at this level – a minimum of 5 years

Accountabilities

* Lead the operations team in a positive, customer-focused, and professional manner.
* Recruit, train and develop the operations team both for new positions and succession planning.
* Develop a diverse, inclusive, solutions-oriented, and customer service focussed culture through coaching and mentoring the team and encouraging two-way communication.
* Listen to employee, customer, and stakeholder feedback and take action to improve employee engagement and improve and develop Best Companies action plans and results.
* Share ideas and develop innovative ways of working to improve company performance and employee engagement in line with the business strategy within the departmental budget.
* Ensure that the department demonstrates professionalism and delivers an awesome customer experience to both internal and external customers.
* Accountable for the day-to-day management of the Transport department.
* Assist the warehouse management team by developing and delivering training, 1-2-1's, appraisals, and regular team briefings across the dayshift, afternoons, and nightshift warehouse operations.
* Develop and implement improvement strategies and gain buy-in from stakeholders at all levels within the operations team.
* Ensure that new processes implemented meet the needs of all stakeholders involved.
* Gain buy-in from all stakeholders, and fully brief the reasons, implications & timelines of all planned change initiatives.
* Ensure the safe, accurate, and timely execution of all Warehouse and Transport operations and continuously improve both processes within each team, and across departments.
* Improve pick flows, workflows, implement standard operating practices and prepare for and implement automation.
* Review the warehouse layout and product placement in order to improve efficiencies.
* Review workflow patterns and racking configurations in order to improve efficiencies and accuracy.
* Manage and improve the use of our Warehouse Management System by ensuring all movements are recorded accurately and on time and that this information is reported on and used to inform decision-making on processes for all proposed change initiatives.
* Continuously improve processes across the operation including effective processing of depot waste, maintenance of equipment, and maintenance of warehouse standards (Appearance, Food Safety, Health and Safety, and resource availability).
* Measure and report performance against the Company service targets, and budgets and develop and implement ideas for improvement.
* Develop innovative ways of working to improve company performance and employee engagement in line with the business strategy and within the departmental budget.
* Develop robust, but flexible processes, procedures, and appropriate people and equipment resource availability.
* Conduct 121's, performance, induction, absence reviews and staff searches with the management team in line with company policies and procedures.
* Provide management cover for operational colleagues during their absence.
* Demonstrate commitment to and support our Environmental, Social and Governance goals in how daily tasks and responsibilities are carried out.
* Actively promote a food safety culture through sharing knowledge and expertise.
* To disclose any evidence of product safety, legality, quality, or integrity issues.
* To report all accidents and promote best practices in Health and Safety and contribute to ensuring a safe working environment for all employees, workers, and visitors on site
