As a Plumber, a typical day might include:
1. Undertaking all types of plumbing repairs inc Taps, Wc’s and waste’s, basic tiling duties identified within Acis housing stock and any other properties as instructed. Works may involve both emergency and scheduled responsive repairs as well as more extensive renovation works to properties.
2. Arrange the provision of materials and plant, either directly or under supervision to attain an efficient, effective and productive return on expenditure.
3. To ensure that the correct materials are available to complete the work at the required quality standard
4. To liaise with tenants and your line manager concerning the timing and progress of work being undertaken
5. Ensuring the safe handling and storage of all plant and equipment, including regular checks for road-worthiness on vehicles for which you are responsible.
6. Carrying out work activities in line with current Approved Codes of Practice and in accordance with Building Regulations.
7. To personally carry out and work to localised risk assessments as your individual work task requires.
8. To be Customer focused in attitude with regard to service expectations and delivery showing flexibility in working hours as the job demands.
9. Ensure that the Code of Conduct for the repairs and maintenance service is fully complied with.
10. Completing further training and qualifications as the job role and changing legislation demands.
11. Empathy with the aims and values of Acis Group and to the provision of high quality services to Acis customers.
12. To provide and maintain a full tool kit to enable all reasonable duties to be undertaken as the post dictates.
13. Responsible for the proper handling, care, security and maintenance of equipment, plant, materials and vehicles.
14. Working in a safe manner in respect of adherence to health and safety Regulations with regard to the safety of yourself, other workers, customers and the general public.
15. Using ladders and step ladders where needed to effect a repair.
16. Working from scaffold access, or hydraulic platforms, as work tasks dictate.
17. Lifting of materials and component part, tool kits, ladders, power tools.
18. Fitting of materials and component parts in confined spaces often in awkward postures.
19. Lone working with the public and in tenants’ homes, including working at height and in empty properties.
The must haves:
20. You will have NVQ Level 2 in a specific trade i.e. Plumbing or equivalent with the ability to undertake other various trade work
21. A full Driving Licence
22. You will have several years’ experience of repairs and maintenance work within both void and tenanted properties
23. You will have a sound understanding of the construction industry in particular the building trade including issues surrounding legislation, Health and Safety, manual handling, working at heights etc.
24. A good knowledge and experience of working within social housing
25. You will have the ability to plan ahead to ensure that all jobs can be completed on time, first time.
26. You have the knowledge and are qualified to undertake asbestos removal (non-licensed) or willing to be trained
