Commercial Development Executive
Salary – Negotiable + Bonus
We are currently looking for a Commercial Development/Account Executive to join the established and welcoming broking team in Newport.
Our Newport office is one of the fastest growing retail insurance brokers with a strong record of providing support and success for all that join them. Your role will be to understand and approach businesses regarding their insurance requirements, designing and administering insurance solutions to protect their assets and liabilities. Developing and retaining business, you will have access to a wide range of market-leading wholesale and in-house underwriters to competitively place various types of commercial insurance. You will need commercial insurance broking experience and new business development skills, along with a desire to grow a book of business.
Support is provided by telemarketing services, dedicated claims handling teams, databases, account handlers, access to leading insurance products, and networks. The position offers a generous commission structure, based in the Newport office.
This role provides a solid long-term platform to service clients and acquire new business, supported by an international insurance broker presence with market agreements and scale.
The day to day:
1. Deliver against agreed targets and plans.
2. Handle new business quotations, renewals, and MTAs, driving sales, service excellence, and retention of the existing commercial book.
3. Work with classes of insurance such as Liabilities, PI Combined, Commercial Combined, Property Owners, Cyber Liability, D&O, Fleets, Motor Trade, among others.
4. Create a customer-led culture emphasizing sales, customer standards, discipline, activities, and best practices.
5. Ensure compliance with FCA regulatory requirements.
6. Build long-standing relationships with insurers and clients.
7. Seek the best policy options for customers while protecting the interests of the insurer.
8. Prioritize high-value activities.
9. Make informed decisions based on available information.

Your Experience:
1. Relevant commercial insurance broking industry experience.
2. Desire to win new business, handle renewals, and MTAs for various insurance risks.
3. Knowledge of industry types and operational conditions.
4. Ability to develop and maintain client relationships.
5. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
6. Confidence in creating compelling insurance market presentations.
7. Pro-active and self-motivated attitude.
8. Strong planning and organizational skills to meet deadlines.
