Vacancy: Category Manager
The job holder will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing indirect goods and services, including opex and capex, from approved suppliers to meet specifications in a cGMP environment.
Responsibilities include providing efficient procurement services for the Dudley site, supervising and mentoring Category Buyers, and overseeing all procurement aspects within their area.
Key Responsibilities
* HSE: Comply with safety policies, conduct HSE audits, and ensure CARE forms are raised.
* Operational: Support internal customers, identify new suppliers, negotiate prices and terms, manage orders and supply, provide supply agreements, monitor market trends, develop supplier performance, and support import and customs clearance.
* Inventory Management: Maintain optimal stock levels without jeopardizing manufacturing.
* People: Lead and mentor a team of Category Buyers and Apprentices.
* Financial: Demonstrate savings, manage supplier credit days, schedule adherence, and stock turns.
Qualifications & Skills
* Graduate or equivalent.
* Knowledge of the global chemical industry and experience in procurement within chemical or pharmaceutical sectors.
* Experience with procurement systems, especially SAP, and working in a cGMP environment.
* Minimum 5 years of relevant purchasing experience.
* Strong negotiation, communication, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Financial awareness regarding inventory and cash flow.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
