Job Description

At Bright Futures, everything circles back to one belief: every person with autism or a learning disability deserves the chance to thrive. We're looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Support Worker to join our specialist home in St Helens, to provide high-quality care and life-enriching opportunities to the people we support.

Job Role

Our home in St Helens is a quiet residential setting with easy access to local parks, green spaces, shops and community amenities. It provides a calm, welcoming environment where individuals can feel comfortable, supported and part of their local community.

The home currently supports one individual and will soon welcome two more, making this an important period of transition. Senior staff play a key role in helping new residents settle in, shaping routines, overseeing care plans and ensuring individuals are supported to engage in meaningful activities that reflect their interests. The focus is on creating a positive, well-organised and person-centred environment where individuals can thrive.

We're looking for resilient, determined and adaptable Senior Support Workers who can lead by example, support the team, and confidently guide individuals through change. Someone with strong communication skills, a positive approach and the ability to build trust and reassurance will excel. Maintaining high standards, supporting colleagues and ensuring each person feels safe, understood and valued are central to this role.

Responsibilities

* Lead, motivate and support the team during each shift, promoting a positive culture and acting as a professional role model.
* Coordinate daily operations, including plans, activities, appointments and budgets, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the shift.
* Oversee and complete all required documentation, digital logs and audits, reviewing and signing off records completed by the team.
* Maintain safety and compliance by escalating health and safety concerns, monitoring medication procedures and ensuring policies are followed.
* Manage staffing levels across the shift, redeploying where needed and collaborating with other sites to ensure adequate cover.
* Ensure accurate reporting and follow-up of incidents, behaviour logs, safeguarding concerns and post-incident debriefs.
* Act as a senior member of the team, advocating for and supporting the continuous development of the home, role modelling best practice in care.

What we're looking for

The ideal candidate will have the following:

* Level 2 Adult Care Worker Qualification or equivalent is desirable (Adult's only)
* Level 4 Diploma – Children, Young People & Families Practitioner is essential. (Children's only)
* Previous experience in a care role in a senior/team leader/supervisory capacity
* Be committed to continuous improvement of the home and the team
* A passion for person-centred care
* Resilient and tenacious
* Have a positive and proactive mindset
* Strong teamwork and communication skills

Full UK Driving Licence is preferred.
