Substance Misuse Recovery Worker - Community Team

Location: Doncaster

This is a permanent, full-time vacancy that will close in 17 days at 11:59 BST.

The Vacancy

The Alcohol & Drug Service (ADS) is a registered charity dedicated to transforming the lives of individuals affected by drug and alcohol misuse for over 40 years.

Aspire is a partnership between ADS and Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH). It combines NHS strengths, led by a consultant, with voluntary sector expertise provided by ADS. This partnership, active for over 20 years, delivers Drug and Alcohol Services to local communities, focusing on flexible, responsive services that aim for the best outcomes for service users and the community.

It is an exciting time to work in the drug and alcohol field, with new career opportunities emerging.

The Community Teams are the core of the service, emphasizing long-term case management and improved outcomes for adults with issues related to all substances. They employ a key working and care plan approach, supporting specialist prescribed interventions and harm reduction through our prescribing team, helping individuals lead fulfilling lives within their local communities.

If you have relevant experience in substance misuse and hold a Level 3 Tackling Substance Misuse qualification or equivalent, we encourage you to apply.

We offer comprehensive accredited training courses and support for newly qualified Social Workers through the ASYE programme.

To arrange an informal discussion, contact Claire Beevers at 03000 213 900.

Note: You must have a valid Right to Work in the UK; we cannot support sponsorship visas.

In return, ADS offers:

* Generous annual leave: 29 days, increasing to 31 after 2 years and 34 after 5 years, plus public holidays
* Health scheme
* Training aligned with personalized development plans
* Opportunity to join a rapidly growing and innovative organization

Working at ADS is more than a job; it’s a chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by substance misuse and their families.

This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

ADS is committed to diversity and is an equal opportunity employer, promoting fair and equal treatment for all employees and service users.

About ADS

For over 30 years, we have delivered effective interventions across towns and cities, helping thousands on the road to recovery in Humberside, Lincolnshire, and Yorkshire, supporting the national strategy locally.

The Alcohol & Drug Service is a registered charity (Charity No. 1108595) and a Company Limited by Guarantee (Company No. 05375809). Our funding primarily comes from contracts with statutory bodies like Local Authorities and the NHS, supplemented by grants and fundraising, which support innovative services. Our governance is overseen by a Board of Trustees.

We are part of the Investors in People scheme, currently holding the Silver award, reflecting our commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Although we have been transforming lives for over three decades, we often work in partnership and deliver services under different project names and identities.

Our Values

We value honesty as the foundation of our work, striving to improve our services through transparency and self-assessment. We believe trust is essential in partnerships with service users, employees, and stakeholders, and it guides our approach to service delivery and organizational culture.
