Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant looking to make a real impact in the lives of young people with special educational needs?
We're seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive post-16 SEN provision in Plymouth. This rewarding role involves working 1:1 with young people aged 16 and over, helping them to build confidence, develop functional skills, and explore opportunities in further education, college, or apprenticeships.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide individualised support to learners aged 16+ with a range of special educational needs
* Assist with the development and delivery of functional skills in Maths, English, and other life skills
* Support students to integrate into further education or vocational pathways, including college and apprenticeship programmes
* Monitor and record student progress and adapt support as needed
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external providers
Requirements:
* Minimum of 12 months experience in an educational setting, ideally with post-16 or SEN students
* Strong understanding of SEN best practices, particularly for learners with EHCPs
* Confident supporting learners on a 1:1 basis
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* A proactive, empathetic, and student-centred approach
* Relevant qualifications in education or support work (e.g., CACHE, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) are desirable
