Lead a growing charity at the heart of your community.
One Can Trust is a dynamic and fast-growing charity, best known for operating the largest food bank in South Buckinghamshire. Born out of local need and driven by compassion, we now provide a lifeline to thousands of people across Wycombe and beyond—tackling food poverty and supporting wider community services. With ~12 staff and over 200 volunteers, we are united by a vision of fairness, dignity, and opportunity for all. We were recently recognised by the Cranfield Trust Journey to Excellence program, signifying our commitment to continuous improvement.
We are now seeking our first permanent Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to take the helm and lead us through our next chapter.
Why this role matters
Over the past few years, One Can Trust has grown rapidly in response to the Covid pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis. What began as a food bank has evolved into a broader mission: addressing the root causes of hardship and building long-term community resilience.
Our Board has confirmed a new 3-year strategy (2026–2029) that cements our commitment to tackling hunger and poverty in innovative ways. To deliver this vision, we need a CEO who can provide visible, decisive, and empowering leadership.
This is a rare opportunity to lead a respected and deeply impactful charity at a pivotal moment in its history.
The role
As CEO, you will:
* Lead and inspire a passionate staff team and a highly committed volunteer base.
* Secure our future through ambitious fundraising, grant-making, partnerships, and revenue growth.
* Champion our mission as the public face of One Can Trust, building strong community and donor relationships.
* Drive delivery of our 3-year strategy and ensure operational excellence.
* Strengthen governance and culture, fostering transparency, collaboration, and inclusion.
* Advocate for food justice, influencing local and national conversations around hunger and inequality.
About you
We’re looking for a leader who is both strategic and hands-on, with the resilience to steer a complex, fast-moving charity.
You will bring:
* A strong track record in fundraising and grant applications.
* Experience in leadership roles, with proven P&L accountability.
* Commercial acumen and a track record of delivering revenue growth and managing costs.
* The ability to build strong, trust-based relationships across stakeholders, volunteers, donors, partners, and communities.
* Confidence in governance, financial management, and organisational development.
Above all, you will be motivated by a passion for social justice, food equity, and community empowerment.
What we offer
* The chance to make a transformative impact in tackling poverty and food insecurity.
* A supportive and committed Board of Trustees, keen to empower you to succeed.
* A vibrant community of staff and volunteers inspired by shared purpose.
* Flexible working arrangements (full-time or fractional to be agreed).
