Locum Consultant in Cardiology with a subspecialty in Imaging

This is a great time to join The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Locum Consultant in Cardiology. We are excited to advertise a 10 PA post as a Consultant Cardiologist with subspecialty expertise in Cardiac Imaging with cross‑site commitments between Hillingdon and Harefield Hospitals.
The successful candidate will contribute to general cardiology work – ward rounds, outpatient clinics, referral vetting and GP advice at Hillingdon, alongside overseeing the echocardiography department and chairing a weekly imaging MDT (four days). At Harefield a day of imaging can be tailored to the candidate’s subspecialty interests and departmental needs.
This post is a 12‑month fixed‑term locum; it may become substantive following this period, although the exact job plan may develop with time in line with departmental requirements.
Responsibilities
1. Provide clinical services in Cardiology at Hillingdon Hospital – ward rounds, outpatient clinics and reporting of direct access investigations.
2. Provide direct clinical care to both inpatients and outpatients, ensuring the highest standard of diagnosis, treatment and care in an effective and timely way.
3. Supervise, train and manage junior medical staff and research fellows working within Hillingdon Cardiology, maintaining high standards of practice and efficient use of resources.
4. Participate in the acute medical rota if candidate has a CCT in G(i)M.
Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration with License to Practice.
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (within 6 months of interview) or CESR.
* Sub‑specialty expertise in cardiac imaging.
* Experience of clinical audit and delivery of good practice.
* Excellent clinical service delivery, service improvement, teaching and training, as identified in the person specification.
Additional Information
Pay scheme: Hospital medical and dental staff.
Grade: Consultant.
Salary: £109,725 to £145,478 a year inclusive of £2,162 HCA.
Contract: Fixed term.
Duration: 12 months.
Working pattern: Full‑time.
