About the role
We are looking for an Agronomy Manager to become a part of the Senior Leadership Team at our Ashburton plant. Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead the Agronomy/ Field teams who are responsible for the raw crop procurement and harvest/ storage operations for our Vegetable processing factory. You will also be working along with Production-, Operations-, Maintenance-, Quality Assurance- and Admin-teams. Remuneration will be based on your experience and qualifications.
As an Agronomy Manager, you will be responsible for:
4. Managing and co-ordinating the total raw material supply chain. This includes crop and grower management, supply, negotiation of seed and advising growers on agronomy requirements, coordination of harvest requirements, and management of raw stock.
5. Facilitating the business’ strategy implementation within the Agronomy-, Field Operations-, and Field Mechanic-teams
6. Co-ordinating, advising, and reporting on raw material supply throughout crop contracting, land preparation, planting, growing, and harvesting cycle(s) for each crop type.
7. Keeping abreast of industry developments, new seed lines and varieties, and making recommendations to the business.
8. Management of raw stock throughout the potato storage cycle and coordinating potato, pea, corn harvest/ storage labour, equipment, and logistics requirements.
For this role, you’ll need:
9. Formal Agricultural training or strong background/ experience required.
10. Formal Management training or strong background/ experience required.
11. Excellent record keeping and organisational abilities.
12. MS Word, Excel, and Access (preferred).
13. A good understanding of H&S in the workplace.
