Control Room Technician
Shift Pattern: Continental (Days & Nights)
The Opportunity
Wolviston Management Services are supporting a major industrial employer with the appointment of an experienced Control Room Technician to play a key role in the commissioning, start-up and ongoing operation of a large-scale production facility.
This is a pivotal position within a high-hazard, process-driven environment, offering the opportunity to be involved from early-stage commissioning through to full operational delivery. Working from a central control room, you will be responsible for ensuring safe, stable and efficient plant performance, while supporting the development of wider operational capability across the team.
The Role
Reporting to the Team Leader and working closely with Lead and Outside Technicians, you will take responsibility for monitoring and controlling plant operations via DCS/SCADA systems, ensuring compliance with all safety, quality and regulatory standards.
You will play a key role in supporting plant start-up activities, driving operational performance and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.
Key Responsibilities
Support day-to-day production activities, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient plant operation
Operate and monitor plant systems from the Control Room during commissioning, start-up and steady-state operations
Execute commissioning procedures and support the safe introduction of new plant areas
Verify alarms, trips and process set points to ensure operational integrity
Deliver accurate and structured shift handovers to maintain continuity across operations
Promote a strong safety culture aligned with COMAH and site standards
Respond effectively to process upsets and emergency situations, managing safety systems as required
Maintain accurate production logs, reports and operational records
Review and enhance start-up and operational procedures to improve safety and efficiency
Coach and mentor operators, supporting cross-training and team capability development
Work collaboratively with maintenance, production and engineering teams to resolve issues and optimise performance Key Accountabilities

We are keen to speak with individuals who can demonstrate:
Proven experience operating plant control systems (DCS, PLC or SCADA)
A strong background within chemical, process, or other high-hazard industries
Level 2/3 qualification in Process Operations or equivalent
A proactive and solutions-focused approach with the ability to drive improvements
Strong communication and organisational skills
Experience within a COMAH environment (desirable)
