JOB PURPOSE
To be responsible for developing and promoting a positive Health and Safety culture amongst Academy staff and contractors across all three Academy sites. To be responsible for the effective and efficient management of all Health and Safety and Fire Safety matters, including policy implementation, monitoring and inspection, risk assessment, investigation and delivery of training.
Principal Responsibilities
Work alongside CEO, Principals, Vice Principals, Contracts Manager and Senior Site Supervisors to provide technical support to:
· Inspect workplace areas to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation;
· help to develop effective health and safety policies and procedures;
· prepare risk assessments;
· prepare COSHH assessment;
· instruct workers in the proper use of protective clothing and safety devices and conduct/ supervise/organise routine tests on equipment;
· establish accident and incident and reporting system alongside Contracts Manager– train colleagues on its use
· compile statistics on accidents and injuries, analyse their causes and make recommendations to management accordingly;
· give talks and distribute information on accident prevention, and keep up to date with the relevant legislation.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate should possess an NVQ/SVQ at Level 3-4 in Occupational Health and Safety Practice or the NEBOSH General Certificate in Health and Safety as a minimum.
NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 5/6 would be advantageous.
Ideally, candidates will be members of IOSH at Technical (TechIOSH) level or Certified (CertIOSH) Level or above (Chartered - CMIOSH).
