Offer description

Write a short description of your company, a boilerplate of the business, service or product that you offer. Include your business idea and the target audience. This text is primarily supposed to be descriptive, not selling.

A successful and well-regarded 11–18 secondary school in Cheshire is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Teacher of Geography to join its established Humanities faculty. Located within a vibrant and culturally rich part of the city, the school benefits from strong community engagement, excellent transport links and a diverse student intake.

The school has built a reputation for steady academic progress, well-managed behaviour and a clear commitment to curriculum depth. Geography is a popular subject at both GCSE and A-Level, with strong uptake and positive outcomes year on year.

-----------------------------------

The Role

This is a full-time classroom position teaching Geography across Key Stages 3–5. The successful candidate will join a collaborative department that values subject expertise, thoughtful curriculum design and meaningful fieldwork.

Key responsibilities include:
• Delivering well-structured and engaging Geography lessons
• Teaching a balanced curriculum covering physical, human and environmental geography
• Contributing to GCSE and A-Level planning and exam preparation
• Supporting fieldwork coordination and enrichment opportunities
• Monitoring progress and implementing targeted interventions

The department places strong emphasis on enquiry-based learning and real-world application. Topics are sequenced carefully to build conceptual understanding, from tectonic processes to urban regeneration and climate change.

-----------------------------------

The Geography Department

The Humanities faculty occupies a central area of the school, creating a strong sense of identity and collaboration. Geography teachers work closely together, sharing planning, assessment design and revision materials.

Facilities and departmental strengths include:
• Dedicated Humanities classrooms with interactive boards
• Access to digital mapping software and data tools
• Strong links to local environmental case studies across Bristol
• A structured fieldwork programme at KS3 and KS4
• Growing A-Level cohort with strong progression routes

The team meets weekly to refine curriculum content and share best practice. The department also works collaboratively with Science and RE on cross-curricular sustainability initiatives.

-----------------------------------

The School Environment

This Cheshire secondary school is known for its inclusive ethos and strong pastoral systems. Behaviour is calm and consistent, supported by clear expectations and visible leadership. Staff describe the culture as professional, supportive and ambitious.

The school has invested significantly in improving teaching spaces and communal areas, creating a modern and welcoming learning environment. CPD is carefully planned and focused on practical classroom impact rather than administrative compliance.

-----------------------------------

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will:
• Hold QTS and a Geography-related degree
• Have strong subject knowledge across physical and human geography
• Be confident teaching GCSE (A-Level desirable but not essential)
• Use data effectively to support student progress
• Demonstrate high expectations and structured classroom practice
• Be enthusiastic about enrichment and fieldwork

This role would suit both experienced teachers and strong ECTs looking for a well-supported department in a thriving city school.

-----------------------------------

What’s On Offer

• Competitive salary in line with experience
• A collaborative and stable Humanities faculty
• Clear behaviour systems and strong SLT support
• High-quality CPD and career progression pathways
• A school culture that balances ambition with wellbeing

This is an excellent opportunity to join a Bristol secondary school that values subject expertise, structured teaching and genuine student curiosity about the world.
