Ecotricity, the UK’s first true green energy provider, has a strong internal team supporting and developing solutions across multiple mission‑critical platforms including Databricks on AWS, SQL, Power BI and other cloud‑centric data solutions. This technical hands‑on role will help contribute to our delivery of projects, BAU, and to making Ecotricity more efficient by leveraging our data.


Responsibilities

* Take ownership for designing, building and maintaining data solutions.
* Build strong relationships with key stakeholders outside the department.
* Be responsible for data quality and ensuring problems are resolved swiftly.
* Identify and seek out technical debt, aiming to reduce it at each opportunity.
* Contribute to organisational awareness of technical best practice.
* Overall responsibility for ensuring that faults are resolved swiftly, and background processes are robust and actively monitored.
* Seek day‑to‑day opportunities to upskill and cross‑train with your peers.


About the team

The Ecotricity Technology department is a small friendly team with a strong focus on getting results, with everyone committed to delivering both individually and as part of the group/project.

We have a training programme in place to further advance your skills. Dedicated time for training is planned in our workloads.

Training and certifications in Databricks are paid for by the company.

About You

Are you a seasoned Data Engineer looking to step up into a more senior role where your technical expertise and passion for data can make a significant impact? We are seeking a driven and experienced professional to take ownership of delivering cutting‑edge data engineering solutions.

In this role, you will be at the forefront of designing, implementing, and optimising data solutions across various formats, with a strong emphasis on data modelling and ETL processes. Your engineering skills will be key, allowing you to tackle complex challenges and deliver innovative solutions that drive our business forward.

While experience in the Energy industry is a plus, it’s your technical prowess and ability to create robust data solutions that will set you apart. This is your chance to take full ownership of technical solutions, shaping the future of our data infrastructure.

You will collaborate closely with project managers, product owners, and stakeholders, effectively communicating progress, presenting solutions, and delivering demos. Your ability to adapt your communication style to different audiences will be crucial in ensuring everyone is aligned and informed.

As this role offers the flexibility to work remotely, you will need to be self‑motivated, delivery‑focused, and capable of driving projects independently.
