New Directions Education are recruiting for a Playworker / Teaching Assistant to join a friendly primary school in Birkenhead. This role is to support in the school’s afterschool club, working every day from 3.15pm – 5.15pm, starting ASAP on an ongoing basis.
Role responsibilities:
1. Supervising and engaging children in fun, safe activities after school
2. Supporting positive behaviour and social interaction
3. Helping to set up and tidy away activities and resources
4. Ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for all children

5. Experience working with children (school, childcare, play work or similar)
6. Friendly, reliable and enthusiastic individuals
7. Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff

Job Specification
Teaching, Learning or Classroom Assistants are now vital resources for teachers and are heavily relied upon in schools.
We specialise in recruiting Teaching Assistants (TA) who are qualified in the following;
8. NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant
9. NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant
10. Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
11. CACHE Level 3 in Childcare & Education
12. BTEC National Certificate in Childhood Studies (Nursery Nursing).
We’ll also consider experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) who have previously held a job in a primary school or assisted a pupil in the role in a secondary school but do not hold any of the above qualifications.

As a teaching assistant you’ll be expected to:
22. Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, ALNCO and class teachers
23. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress
24. Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
25. Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
26. Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
