Role Summary
* To provide a full and efficient secretarial service for consultants, nursing team, and the wider service, ensuring all documentation is produced to an excellent standard. Strong proof-reading skills are required.
* Administrative functions including monitoring patient waiting lists and ensuring NHS compliance.
* Coordinate and organise patient appointments according to local and Trust arrangements.
* Effective communication, handling correspondence, liaising with multidisciplinary teams, and managing telephone and email communications.
* Assist in managing the team’s diary.
* Ensure adequate cover during leave periods.
* Maintain electronic patient records in line with Trust policies.
* Adhere to governance, including training and compliance with Trust policies.
* Support other secretaries and admin team members to deliver quality service.

An exciting opportunity for an experienced secretary or administrator to join as a part-time Medical Secretary. The role requires working over at least three days, including Tuesday and Thursday afternoons until 5 pm.
Based at the Centre for Women’s Health on the main Royal Devon and Exeter Wonford site, supporting patients and the clinical team of Consultant Gynaecologists/Obstetricians.
Applicants with secretarial or healthcare experience are preferred, but transferable skills from other sectors are welcome.
The role involves working in a busy environment, requiring good team skills, excellent communication, strong organisational and IT skills, and the ability to manage your own caseload independently.
Excellent communication and empathetic telephone manner are essential, as the role involves contact with patients, relatives, and healthcare professionals.
Working Pattern: 3 or more days per week, including Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with a 5 pm finish.
