The Service & Team:
The role holder, as part of the Engineering Workshops team, will provide critical support for front line services to maintain firefighting operations and support firefighters and public safety.
The Role
In addition to working at our workshops at Tolvaddon, your role will involve travelling to various fire stations across the county to provide maintenance and pre‑servicing of large goods vehicles and firefighting equipment. You will carry out inspection, preventative maintenance and repair on a wide range of vehicles and plant including electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, and use modern diagnostic equipment.
Responsibilities
* Inspect and maintain large goods vehicles and firefighting equipment.
* Perform preventive maintenance, repairs and diagnostics using computer‑based tools.
* Attend training to maintain a wide range of firefighting equipment.
* Participate in a short practical assessment and meetings with EWS management team.
Requirements
* HGV Cat C licence or eligibility to obtain licence (training funded).
* No conditions that would prevent holding an HGV licence.
* Competent use of modern techniques and modern diagnostic equipment.
* Ability to travel across county to fire stations.
Working Pattern
Normal hours 08:00‑16:00 Mon‑Thurs; 08:00‑15:30 Fri. Standby and on‑call duties (one week on‑call every sixth week) with additional monetary rewards and night work at 50% premium.
Pay & Benefits
* Basic salary £31,870 p.a., rising to £39,159 p.a. with annual increments.
* Pay for standby, call‑out, overtime and night work approximately +£2,000 p.a.

What You’ll Need To Succeed
In‑house and college training to achieve a certificate of competence for LGVs. Demonstrate competence in maintenance, inspection, and repair of firefighting equipment and vehicles.
