Are you a creative, compassionate Personal Carer with a passion for enriching the lives of people living with dementia? Join Odyssey, where we’re redefining aged care as a place of joy, belonging, and meaningful engagement.
At Odyssey, our communities are more than care facilities—they’re vibrant lifestyle resorts designed to feel like home. We’re seeking dedicated Personal Carers (Cert III minimum) who are inspired to deliver outstanding, person-centred care and engagement for our residents in Memory Lane—Odyssey’s secure, dementia-specific community, thoughtfully designed to provide safety, dignity, and a true sense of belonging for those living with cognitive decline.
About the Role
This newly designed position is all about enriching daily life for our Memory Lane residents. You’ll lead and inspire activities that spark joy, connection, and purpose—while also providing hands-on support to a caring team as the needs of our residents evolve.
This is not your typical carer role. You’ll have the chance to make a real impact, championing dignity, independence, and creativity for people living with cognitive decline in a supportive, secure environment.
What You’ll Do
Lead small group and one-on-one activities—craft, games, baking, music, beauty therapy, gentle movement, scenic drives, and more.
Accompany residents to broader Odyssey Lifestyle events and social gatherings, supporting their independence and sense of belonging.
Document daily activities and resident responses, adapting your approach to reflect each individual’s preferences, mood, and abilities.
Support with light personal care (toileting, transfers, mobility and assisting with meals) when the core care team is busy, ensuring residents always feel safe and supported.
Escort residents to the main restaurant or community events, helping them stay connected with friends and the wider Odyssey community.
Roster & Team Structure
To foster consistency and trust, we’re seeking carers with reliable availability who are open to sharing this role across a small, stable team (2–3 staff). This continuity helps build strong resident relationships, trust with families, and a well-coordinated team environment. The shift operates 7 days a week from 8:30am to 1:30pm, making it ideal for those seeking family-friendly hours or looking to balance work with other commitments.
What You Bring
Certificate III in Individual Support (or equivalent)
Experience working in aged care, dementia care, or community settings
Warm, empathetic, person-centred approach—genuine passion for meaningful engagement and creative activities
Confidence supporting residents living with cognitive decline and changing care needs
Team spirit, reliability, and a positive attitude
Valid First Aid/CPR, flu vaccination (or willingness to obtain), and current police clearance
Why Odyssey?
We’re not your typical care community—we’re a luxury lifestyle resort with warmth, independence, and excellence at our core.
Exceptional working conditions: thoughtfully designed spaces, natural light, high-end amenities, and a supportive team culture.
Values-driven organisation: your contributions are recognised, your voice is heard, and your wellbeing matters.
Be part of something truly special: make a lasting impact in a community that puts people first—where creativity, respect, and innovation are part of everyday life.
If you thrive on meaningful interaction, love creative and sensory-based engagement, and want to make every day special for people living with dementia, we’d love to hear from you.
