Offer description

Overview

We are bold and ambitious in our plans, with a clear vision and direction for the future. Our status as one of the UK's fastest growing towns is driving transformational change across our organisation, most significantly within our highly valued Adults' Services teams. This role includes a practitioner-specific, Swindon-specific induction programme aimed at providing you with the information you need regarding the policies and procedures of Adult Social Care at Swindon Borough Council. The induction programme blends face-to-face activities and e-learning modules to consolidate and review your knowledge of key areas.

Responsibilities

* Complete Care Act assessments and proportionate support planning.
* Undertake S42 Enquiries and ensure appropriate protection plans.
* Follow the care management process of reviews, complete Mental Capacity Assessments and Best Interest decisions.
* Be in the office (based in Swindon) for a minimum of 2 days a week; be prepared for visits in Swindon outside of these times and regular commuting to Swindon.
* Travel to visit people we support out of area (e.g., Salisbury, Bath, Bristol and Devizes).
* Work closely with residents of Swindon and their families, along with professionals including health, provider services, safeguarding and housing.

Qualifications and Experience

* You must hold a formal social work degree and be registered with Social Work England to apply for this post.
* You must be fluent in English (as required for customer-facing roles).
* Experience with mental health clients is beneficial; we will consider candidates with sound practice skills (including recent experience undertaking Care Act and Mental Capacity Act assessments) who are willing to learn more about mental health work.

Requirements and Development

* Strong, strength-based skills and a passion for helping people with mental illness live their best lives.
* Excellent communication and assessment skills in a fast-paced but supportive environment.

Our Offer

We recognise that getting the best outcomes for Adults means getting the best from you, and we have listened to what Social Workers and Managers value. See Rewards and Benefits for details. You will join a diverse and exciting environment encouraging creativity and innovation while supporting ongoing personal development and a flexible work-life balance. Swindon is undergoing regeneration and transformation programmes, and you will be joining us at an exciting time on our journey. We expect you to share your knowledge, influence decisions and drive positive change, contributing to a prosperous, revitalised Swindon that you can be proud to say was made better with you.
