Do you want to make a real difference in the lives of those in substance-use recovery?
At HMP Morton Hall, we provide a fully integrated healthcare service, delivering care to sentenced prisoners that is equivalent to that in the community.
We are seeking a dynamic, experienced Substance Misuse Practitioner to join our innovative and committed team. You will be supported by effective management, guidance, and supervision to aid your career development, along with training opportunities to enhance your practice.
Please note that applicants are required to pay for their DBS check. The costs are deducted from your salary following appointment. The DBS application fee is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), deducted over the first two months of employment. We encourage enrollment in the DBS Update Service, which has an annual fee of £16.
Your role involves providing high-quality patient care through assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for individuals with substance misuse issues, working towards harm reduction and health promotion/recovery goals.
Working with a caseload of often complex and challenging patients, you will deliver innovative substance misuse interventions, supporting patients to achieve recovery and improve their health and social functioning. You will also contribute to the prison’s efforts to reduce re-offending and align with the wider drug strategy.
This role is both challenging and rewarding, offering an opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of individuals with complex backgrounds and needs within a prison setting.
The Substance Misuse Team is part of the Healthcare Department, which also provides Mental Health and Physical Health services. All teams work together to deliver an integrated Healthcare Service.
