Purpose: We are looking for a permanent, part time (21 hours per week) Legal Assistant to provide effective assistance and support for case handlers within our busy motor prosecution department.
Home working: This role has the option of being part office working and part remote working, or fully remote working. Our Team currently work out of our Leeds, Cardiff or Bristol offices so ideally you will be able to attend internal meetings as and when required.
Duties/Responsibilities:
* Taking full responsibility for tasks delegated to you by senior case handlers to ensure the progression of their files such as liability investigations, gathering of evidence, liaising with the courts and counsel, arranging conferences and case management amongst other tasks as necessary.
* Complying fully with agreed service standards;
* Communicating effectively with the Senior Case handers, their clients, opponents and our insurer clients;
* Attending and participating in meetings;
* Attendance at networking events and business development;
* Dealing with administration and any other duties as required.
Skills/Competencies required: The successful applicant will display excellent communication and organisation skills with an ability to always work in line with deadlines. You should have a common-sense approach to work, showing enthusiasm and initiative as a team player, with an ability to manage expectations from both internal and external clients.
Experience:
* The successful candidate needs to have excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise urgent tasks. You must be computer literate and able to undertake your own typing and be able to produce bundles.
* The successful candidate will have a self-motivated and common-sense approach to their work, showing enthusiasm and initiative.
* Ideally the successful candidate will have some experience in a civil or criminal department, or similar.
Education:
A law degree, CPE conversion (or equivalent) or CILEx Qualification is essential.
