Profile
The Mechanical Fitter will possess a comprehensive range of engineering knowledge along with suitable practical experience for troubleshooting and installation work. The ideal candidate will have CompEx Mechanical qualifications and experience working in hazardous areas. Knowledge and experience with top tier CoMAH regulations, including environmental, health, and safety legislation, are essential.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, responsibilities include:
1. Ensuring all duties comply with legal requirements and company policies on quality, health & safety, and environment.
2. Promoting a safety culture through good housekeeping, proper PPE use, reporting near misses, and isolating unsafe situations.
3. Completing documentation and routine checks as per policies, maintaining standards.
4. Managing workload to ensure safe, efficient maintenance of plant and equipment using CMMS instructions and adhering to statutory and technical standards.
5. Performing routine maintenance, repairs, and commissioning of site equipment, ensuring quality and timeliness.
6. Overseeing installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair, ensuring work meets high standards and deadlines.
7. Collaborating with supervisors to complete CMMS jobs and project tasks on time.
8. Contributing to capital projects, including labor provision, supervision, and commissioning.
9. Identifying repair, upgrade, and maintenance needs to maximize plant availability and efficiency.
10. Reporting equipment issues and ensuring safe isolation and communication of hazards.
11. Following permit to work procedures with proper risk assessments and controls.
12. Supporting the department with additional tasks like electrical work or forklift operation, as qualified.
13. Participating in hazard assessments, risk reviews, and incident investigations.
14. Following change management procedures to ensure safe modifications.
15. Seeking continuous improvement in plant operation and maintenance.
16. Providing basic training to team members and operators.
17. Managing waste disposal in compliance with legislation and housekeeping standards.
18. Assisting the supervisor and deputizing as needed.
Role
1. Adhering to health, safety, and environmental standards, reporting issues.
2. Following risk assessments and completing CMMS tasks timely and safely.
3. Ensuring equipment is correctly assembled, commissioned, and returned to service safely.
4. Recording breakdowns to improve reliability and performance.
5. Maintaining accurate CMMS records and adhering to safety and hazard controls.
6. Communicating daily activities and issues to the supervisor.
7. Assisting in maintenance planning and shutdown management.
8. Following waste segregation and disposal procedures.
9. Ensuring repairs and installations meet standards and are tested before handover.
10. Working flexibly, including out-of-hours work as needed.
11. Undertaking training to stay updated on technology and safety.
12. Supporting emergency response efforts when required.
