THE ROLE
Do you have excellent attention to detail and enjoy working with new dispensing technology? Would you like to join a local business that will invest in you and your career? Weldricks Pharmacy currently have a new vacancy for an Accuracy Checking Technician to join their team in Doncaster. We are looking for a Pharmacy Technician with an accredited level 3 Pharmacy Technician qualification who is registered with the GPhC and ideally who has completed a GPhC-accredited accuracy checking course. We will also consider applications from suitably trained and registered Pharmacy Technicians with a desire to progress, who are willing to undertake accuracy checking training.
Hours of work are 36 hours; Monday 9.00am – 5.30pm, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 9.30am – 5.00pm. We will consider applications from candidates who are willing to work between 30 and 40 hours per week.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
We are looking for friendly, professional and caring individuals who can provide a great service while working in a sometimes‑pressurised, fast paced environment. You will know the importance of dealing with questions and queries with confidence and discretion, as you play an important part in the community.
Joining our team of Accuracy Checking Technicians, you will be responsible for providing a high standard of healthcare by accurately checking dispensed medicines, engaging with novel dispensing technology and advising on prescriptions and Medicines under the direction of a pharmacist. You will also be required to:
* Prepare for and take an active role in the six‑monthly review with your branch Pharmacist.
* Competently check the accuracy of dispensed, clinically checked prescriptions.
* Identify when you need professional support (for example any unfamiliar items to be checked) with the Pharmacist.
* Deal with and record dispensing errors.
* Learn from errors, both your own and others.
* Engage actively with the Clinical Governance meeting to enhance patient safety and encourage junior colleagues to learn and improve.
* Contribute to the development and review of the Accuracy Checking SOP.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED

* The ability to showcase a kind and compassionate attitude to patient care.
* A recognised and accredited Accuracy Checking Technician qualification (e.g., NPA Accuracy Checkers Training Pathway), or who has a level 3 Pharmacy Technician qualification along with the skills above, and a keenness to train as an Accuracy Checker.
