SEND Teaching Assistants – Bury School

Pay Rate: £95 + per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Responsibilities
* Supporting pupils with physical needs, including moving and handling, hoisting, and mobility assistance.
* Delivering 1:1 and small group support following personalised learning plans and EHCP targets.
* Using communication tools such as PECs, Makaton, and visual timetables (experience desirable but not essential).
* Assisting the class teacher in creating an inclusive, safe, and supportive environment.
* Monitoring, recording, and reporting on pupils’ progress, behaviour, and wellbeing.
* Supporting pupils in sensory rooms, therapy sessions, and outdoor learning.
* Building strong, positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
* Helping implement behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques.
* Supporting pupils during break and lunch duties.
* Ensuring safeguarding, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience supporting children or adults with SEND, personal care, or complex needs.
* A caring, patient, and resilient nature.
* Confidence with personal care procedures (or willingness to learn).
* A proactive approach and ability to work within a team.
* Good communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
