Overview
We are seeking experienced and enthusiastic phlebotomists to join our team at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital and Washwood Heath Community Diagnostic Centre (WWHCDC), part of UHB NHS Foundation Trust.
Responsibilities
* Obtain blood samples from inpatients, outpatients, and clinics, including paediatric patients and WWHCDC shifts.
* Deliver services primarily at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital medical ward and surgical ward, with shifts at WWHCDC and occasional cross-site cover.
* Work independently, maintain confidentiality, and interact with patients professionally.
* Demonstrate team ethos and a commitment to patient care.
Working hours
Work 20–25 hours per week in flexible shifts, including evenings (up to 8 pm) and weekends on rotation. Core hours 07:30–20:00, Monday to Friday. Weekend Wards: 07:00–10:30; Weekend WWHCDC: 08:30–20:00.
Requirements
* Recent phlebotomy experience (preferably within six months).
* Complete local training and competency assessments upon appointment.
* Ability to work under pressure, strong communication, compassion, and confidentiality.
