The Role
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Research Fellow to lead innovative research in eye growth, vision, and myopia. This role will enhance our scientific understanding and support the development of new diagnostic devices and treatments. The successful candidate will work with a diverse team of scientists and engineers, gaining experience across our pioneering medical devices.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Coordinate and conduct clinical testing and ocular imaging on human participants, especially children
* Prepare study protocols and ethics documentation
* Identify and recruit study participants, ensuring safety
* Engage in public and patient involvement activities to promote myopia awareness
* Quantify and analyze test images
* Manage and interpret research data
* Ensure compliance with regulatory and ethical standards
* Assist in project design improvements using Agile methodologies
* Prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals
* Present findings at international conferences
* Support ad hoc testing across projects
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
* Undergraduate degree in optometry or related field
* Research background and clinical experience, especially with children
* Knowledge of retinal circuitry and visual processing
* Experience with ocular imaging techniques such as OCT and fundus imaging
* Strong data analysis skills and research ethics knowledge
* Masters or PhD in optometry or related discipline
* Publication record and conference presentation experience
* Skills in statistical analysis and coding
* Understanding of colour vision and Prediction Error Minimisation Theory
