Spatial Planning Manager
Start: ASAP
Duration: 6 Months Initially
Rate: £60 per hour (Inside IR35)
Hybrid Working Arrangement
Responsibilities:
* Lead in the coordination, development, and maintenance of the local plan for Council which sets the planning policies against which planning decisions are made and is required by statute
* As part of the planning service senior management team, work closely with other teams across the service in providing leadership, professional development and expertise to support regeneration and economic growth projects
* Negotiation with private sector developers regarding development and investment opportunities to secure major investment in the local area
* Lead in the preparation of responses to public consultations including those issued by Government and local authorities
* Work in a collaborative manner across a broad range of environmental and socio-economic disciplines
* Collect, analyse and interpret evidence including statistical data to meet statutory requirement for local planning
* Lead in the preparation of statutory and non-statutory planning policy documents, including Authority Monitoring Report and statement of housing land supply, working closely with others and coordinating statistical analysis to inform
* Work closely with other officers to prepare statutory documents including Authority Monitoring Reports and statements of housing land supply
* Assisting in the development of any schemes, projects or strategies directly associated with regeneration and economic growth
* Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably expected at this level
Requirements:
* Must have a degree in Town and Country planning and be a chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute., or have the ability to gain membership
* Lead, direct and manage the team and progress work on the formulation of planning policies and their justification through robust evidence
* Prepare for and undertake consultation and engagement activities, including attendance at public meetings
* Liaise with senior council officers and members regarding delivering the council’s new Local Plan
* Prepare evidence for, and attendance at, public examinations, inquiries and appeals as required
