The Role

Aberystwyth University is looking for a Global Programmes Support Officer to work within the Global Engagement team to help manage the administration around international student mobility (incoming and outgoing) and associated funding streams.

What you’ll do

This job description is subject to review and amendment in the light of the changing needs of the University, to provide appropriate development opportunities and/or the addition of any other reasonable duties.

Reporting to Global Opportunities Operations Manager:

* Support Global Programmes team with managing data related to both outbound (Aberystwyth students) mobility and inbound (students from exchange / study abroad / summer school partners) mobility.
* Support Global Programmes team with the administration of Taith and Turing funding which will support student mobility.
* Support Global Programmes team with the administration of US student loans and the necessary reporting on student progress.
* Support Global Programmes team with the administration related to other funding streams such as external scholarships: Chevening, Commonwealth, Marshall Papworth and others.
* Support the Global Programmes team with preparation for Summer School activity.
* To update webpages relevant to activities of the Global Programmes team.
* To undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post.

* Any other reasonable duties requested commensurate with the grade of this role.

* To be a flexible member of the team, supporting colleagues at peak times of workload and pressure including attendance at university events e.g. open days, graduation which may include weekend work.

Who you are – Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills required

Essential

1. Educated to degree level or equivalent.
2. Literacy and Numeracy Skills: Strong numeracy skills; Proven capacity to pay attention to detail in reading / writing / proofing both words and numbers.
3. Digital Literacy: An ability to use appropriate digital tools and technologies to collaborate, share data, information and digital content; Competent use of spreadsheets, databases and IT solutions for administrative tasks.
4. Administration and Organising Skills: Excellent attention to detail; Experience in proficiently using a variety of administrative systems concurrently; Experience in managing conflicting tasks.
5. People Skills: Experience of working within a team and on own initiative.
6. An ability to understand the bilingual nature of the University and an awareness of the procedures in place to support working bilingually.

Desirable

1. Advanced spreadsheet skills, capable of setting up spreadsheets beyond basic formulae.
2. Knowledge and experience of student systems and administrative processes within Higher Education.
3. Confident and conscientious with empathy and openness towards colleagues and stakeholders.
4. Oral (spoken) and Written Welsh Level B2.
