About the role
Position: HGV Class 2 Drainage Engineer
Location: Kidlington Depot, Thames Valley Region (Kidlington, Oxfordshire)
Job type: Permanent, full time
Hours: 4 on / 4 off, 40.25 hours (working early and late)
Salary: £50,000 per annum (basic pay, overtime, on‑call allowance and bonuses)

We operate 24/7, so you will be required to work flexible hours, weekends and participate in an on‑call rota. Full training, PPE and company equipment will be provided to enable you to work to Lanes Group’s high standards of operation.

Responsibilities
* Travel to residential sites via HGV in a two‑person team, covering the region, and operate a high‑pressure water jet for restoration.
* Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems.
* Record each job report correctly on the specialist equipment provided.
* Run diagnostics and repairs on drains.
* Deliver excellent customer service.
* Maintain high health and safety practice while carrying out works.
* Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished.
* Comply with health and safety responsibilities, including PPE and safe site setups protecting Lanes Group employees, the public and other road users.
* Utilise VISTEC and Salesforce platforms.
* Operate JHL specification vacuum tankers and associated equipment.
* Safely access vehicle cabs, sites and offices using correct procedures.
* Manipulate flexible pipework (including loading/unloading to/from tanker pipe storage trays) using correct manual handling techniques.
* Work unsupervised in all weather conditions, wearing correct PPE or utilising the lone worker system.
* Dynamically risk assess site access and working conditions depending on specific circumstances on arrival.
* Liaise with the client regarding process and any updates.
* Provide support to your colleagues.
* Conduct thorough inspections of tools, equipment and plant before and after use.
* Report any defects or malfunctions.
* Carry out risk assessments and maintain a mature approach to risk perception.
* Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibilities towards them.
* Perform any other reasonable ad-hoc tasks, duties or projects as requested by management.
About you
* Hard working, respectful, and compliant with health and safety standards.
* Experience with high‑pressure jetting equipment is useful but not essential.
* Additional drainage qualifications (e.g., NRSWA and confined spaces) are an advantage.
* Minimum of an HGV Class 2 licence, a completed professional competence certificate (CPC) and an up‑to‑date digital tachograph card.
* Ability to work safely, quickly diagnose and deliver practical and efficient solutions to attain the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
