Oxfam is a global movement working to end the injustice of poverty. Oxfam Shops are at the heart of the charity, raising vital funds and increasing public awareness. This role is for a Shop Manager who is the only paid staff member in an environment largely run by volunteers.

The shop manager is commercially aware, constantly looking for new business opportunities, motivating teams and creating a safe and energised work environment. They set high standards, drive results and are accountable for the business.


Key Responsibilities

* Lead, motivate and develop the shop team.
* Ensure business is commercially successful through effective retail processes and merchandising.
* Oversee financial reporting and manage the shop budget.
* Delegate responsibilities to volunteers and support them in running the shop.
* Maintain high standards of customer service and create a safe working environment.

* Ability to delegate, coach and listen.
* Enjoys working with people and has a friendly and approachable manner.
* Ability to manage time under conflicting priorities.
* Ability to demonstrate resilience to the everyday pressures that come with the role.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to motivate self and others.
* High level of motivation, enthusiasm and a sense of fun.
* Open and adaptable to change and able to support others through it.
* Ability to establish and maintain successful retail processes and merchandising.
* IT literacy and numeracy skills (using email systems and online resources; use and understand basic spreadsheets and word processing packages; be aware of and be open to the role of social networking and e-commerce).
* Eager and required to adhere to Oxfam's principles and values as well as promotion of diversity and gender rights.
* Understanding of and commitment to adhere to equity, diversity, gender, child safety and staff health and wellbeing principles.


Desirable Criteria (D)

* Commercial awareness and judgement.
* Ability to understand and interpret basic financial reports.
