Project Manager

Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Project Manager to lead complex, impactful initiatives within our Milton Keynes services. This includes both community and mental health services. In this role, you will use structured project management methodologies to drive service redesign, support change management, and ultimately improve patient care. You will manage diverse clinical and non‑clinical stakeholders to deliver meaningful transformation.
Responsibilities
* Lead healthcare service transformation and change management initiatives, supporting service redesigns and managing implementation of new or updated systems, including digital tools.
* Develop comprehensive project plans, establish robust governance processes, and manage competing priorities from conception through to delivery.
* Build strong relationships and work closely with stakeholders across multiple services and system partners to drive project alignment.
* Proactively analyse and resolve complex operational or project issues, mitigating risks to ensure seamless delivery.
* Maintain an accurate audit trail of key decisions, actions and outputs, including risk and issue logs, project/milestone plans and action plans.
* Produce documents, reports and presentations for meetings, committees and boards in accordance with governance arrangements.
* Ensure clinical perspective and clinical staff are central to projects, working with clinical teams and managers to develop new ways of working.
* Ensure the patient voice is central to transformation planning and delivery from initial scoping discussions through to agreeing evaluation and desired outcomes.
* Make audience‑appropriate presentations, provide training on your project, and raise awareness.
* Support and update project/programme boards as required, chair project and/or workstream meetings as appropriate.
* Attend programme meetings to provide updates and facilitate discussions for key decisions.
* Manage internal and external barriers to change and ensure deadlines are met to a high standard.
* Interpret and analyse complex information and make decisions on programme issues with multiple options.
* Coordinate relationships between the programme and other local or strategic groups.
* Champion digital innovation and investigate use of automation and AI to improve processes and scheduling.
* Investigate use of AI (e.g. chat GPT/Google Gemini) in production of reports, maintaining confidentiality.
* Provide flexible support and project management across the transformation landscape as required.
* Deputise for the Business & Transformation Manager when required.
Qualifications and Skills
* Good standard of education (degree level or equivalent appropriate experience).
* Formal project management qualification or experience at PRINCE2 level or equivalent.
* Experience of project management and strategic service development in a complex organisation.
* Track record of meeting deadlines and managing projects in complex environments.
* Demonstrable leadership experience with evidence of change, process redesign and monitoring/evaluation mechanisms.
* Ability to exercise judgement with complex problems and consider implications of decisions.
* Ability to motivate others, negotiate deadlines and persuade clinicians and senior managers.
* Good working knowledge of the NHS agenda, NHS targets and national initiatives.
* Understanding of applying digital innovation in a healthcare setting.
