Offer description

Role Responsibility An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Senior Practitioner Children’s Occupational Therapist (30 hrs per week) in the Strengthening Independence Service Occupational Therapy Team 0-18 (Countywide). The Countywide Occupational Therapy Service consists of a Service Manager and a team of Senior Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapists (OT) and Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTA). The Strengthening Independence Service is made up of teams of Social Workers working closely with the Occupational Therapy Team, who work together to facilitate care packages, provide equipment, short break and fostering placements, and co-operate with Children in Need and Safeguarding Children Plans. For this role your duties will be to supervise OT/OTA Staff, manage duty and case allocations for the area as well as support the OT Service Manager regarding complaint responses. You will also have your own caseload providing assessment and advice and equipment/adaptations for disabled children and their families within their own homes. You will also be providing support and advice to carers, other professionals, and partner organisations. A significant part of our role is to assess needs in accordance with Disability Facilities Grant legislation. The role requires someone who is an Occupational Therapist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and ideally with extensive experience of working in Social Services or with children who have a disability. You will be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the legislation and policies that underpin the provision of services for Disabled Children, young people, and their carers. You will need to have competent clinical assessment and reasoning skills and effective written and verbal communication to be able to plan, organise and evaluate your workload. You must be self-motivated and able to work independently. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Occupational Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council. This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification. Interviews will be held on 1 December 2025.
