Job summary
In Leeds, there are 3 Rehabilitation and Recovery Beds supporting individuals unable to return directly home after hospital admission.
You will join a team of 9 Occupational Therapists working alongside colleagues in Health and Social Care, including Physiotherapists, Nurses, and care staff, to promote independence and facilitate a person's return home. The Recovery Hubs foster a rehabilitation-focused culture with a 24-hour therapeutic approach.
We seek an Occupational Therapist with proven assessment skills and a strength-based, personalized approach to conduct assessments for individuals with diverse needs, develop and implement goal-led outcome plans. Therapists collaborate with support workers to ensure the achievement of outcomes and regular progress reviews. They also lead discharges for those returning home.
Essential skills include expertise in moving and handling, risk assessment, and devising solutions to mitigate risks considering the needs and personal outcomes of disabled people and their families. The service aligns with Leeds Moving and Handling protocols to ensure optimal care, including principles of single-handed care.
Main duties include:
1. Providing professional supervision and line management, supported by a Disability Team Manager who is a registered Occupational Therapist.
2. Supporting Continuing Professional Development (CPD), including peer group activities.
3. Contributing to service development and participating in projects within Recovery Hubs.
4. Supporting student education and mentoring new graduate Occupational Therapists.
5. Working on a rota covering early and late shifts from 8 am to 8 pm, including some weekends, with a rota enhancement included in the salary.
Applicants must hold a degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy and be registered with the HCPC.
