We are seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Worker to join our new Specialist Satellite Provision supporting Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils with SEND and SEMH needs. This is an exciting opportunity to help children develop resilience, emotional literacy, and positive relationships while building a strong foundation for learning.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Pastoral Support Worker, you will:
1. Provide 1:1 and small-group emotional support for pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.
2. Help pupils manage behaviour and emotions, using trauma-informed, restorative, and nurturing strategies.
3. Develop trust and strong relationships with children, becoming a consistent and positive adult in their school lives.
4. Support attendance, engagement, and inclusion, helping pupils feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.
5. Work closely with teachers, teaching assistants, and the SENDCo to implement behaviour plans, individual strategies, and pastoral interventions.
6. Promote wellbeing and safeguarding, acting as a point of contact for pupils' emotional needs and concerns.

Essential Skills and Experience
12. Experience working with children with SEN and/or SEMH needs (in schools, PRUs, alternative provision, or similar settings)
13. Strong understanding of trauma-informed, restorative, and nurturing approaches
14. Excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills
15. Awareness of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Desirable (But Not Essential)
16. Qualifications in Pastoral Support, Counselling, Youth Work, or Mental Health
17. Training in Team Teach, MAPA, or positive handling strategies
18. Experience working with pupils with EHCPs or personalised behaviour support plans
