Attendance Officer - Secondary School (Huddersfield)Full-time: 8:00am-4:00pm | Term Time Only Start: ASAP - July (End of Academic Year)We are seeking an experienced Attendance Officer to join a thriving secondary school in Huddersfield on a long-term cover basis, starting as soon as possible and continuing until the end of the academic year. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is confident, organised, and passionate about improving student attendance and engagement. About the RoleThe Attendance Officer will play a key role in supporting the school's pastoral and safeguarding teams by ensuring accurate attendance records and promoting excellent attendance across the school community.Key Responsibilities
* Monitor daily student attendance and punctuality
* Make first-day absence calls and follow up on unexplained absences
* Maintain accurate attendance data using the school's MIS (e.g., SIMS/Arbor/Bromcom)
* Produce attendance reports for senior leaders and pastoral staff
* Work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to address attendance concerns
* Support attendance meetings and contribute to intervention plans.
* Uphold safeguarding procedures and escalate concerns appropriately
Requirements
* Previous experience as an Attendance Officer in a school setting is essential.
* Strong understanding of attendance procedures and safeguarding responsibilities
* Confident using school MIS systems and Microsoft Office
* Excellent communication, organisation, and record-keeping skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a wider pastoral team
* Calm, professional, and able to handle sensitive situations
