A vacancy has arisen for an Operations Shift Supervisor to join our team at Drax Power Station.
The Operations Shift Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day performance of all operational aspects of the Hargreaves Industrial Services' contract.
Hargreaves Industrial Services provide a varied Operations and Maintenance service to our client at Drax Power Station. We handle, maintain and reclaim materials including FBA, Coal and Mitigant Slurry whilst managing material stocks and transportation using a wide range of Mobile Plant.
The role briefly encompasses the following:
Work to/ Comply with HIS/Drax SHEQ procedures
Responsible for assisting the site management team in controlling all HIS operational activities on site and ensuring the achievement of KPI driven goals in Safety, Health, Environment, QA, Operations, Housekeeping, Communications and Staff Performance.
Ensure all costs are controlled in accordance with agreed ceiling costs at all times.
Ensure that the relevant contractual Operational requirements and KPI's are fully met.
Promote effective communication interfaces with the client, their representatives, HIS's Maintenance, Administration and HQ teams.
Ensure that all employees in the immediate team understand and comply with their duties and responsibilities.
Ensure full accountability of the Operational teams under direct supervision.
Promote at all times improvement, innovation, savings and added value within the contract.
Develop maximum team flexibility so we can respond to our clients varying business conditions.
Identify and develop the people in the team through training, personal accountability and appraisals.
Deputise for the Operations Manager in his absence.
Ensure that all necessary statutory and local procedures and controls are in place, through effective inspection, monitoring and auditing processes
Support the management team to ensure that all planned operations are supervised to ensure the safety of employees and plant
Ensure that accident, incident and near miss investigation and reporting procedures are implemented
Ensure the planning and co-ordinating of all associated maintenance tasks on the plant
Report any variances to normal operating procedures to the Operations Manager and maintain all key reports
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/ attributes:
A strong team player with the ability to work independently and on own initiative
Good communication skills, both with colleagues, other contractors and clients
Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines safely
SHEQ requirement
o Safety Rules PFW acceptor trained
o Risk assessment training
o Manual handling training
o COSHH awareness training
IOSH Managing Safety or equivalent
Supervisory qualification or relevant supervisory experience.
Strong decision making and influencing skills.
Competent in IT skills.
Practical, creative and analytical.
Demonstrable background in maintenance and engineering systems would be an advantage.

Due to the health and safety risks associated with this working environment, all individuals must comply with face fitted dust mask rules. In order to do so individuals must be clean shaven at all times when on site.
