As we await Ofsted registration to officially open our first solo home at Turner Street, the Deputy Manager will initially work a shift pattern alongside staff. Once the home opens and a Team Leader is recruited, the role will transition into a hybrid management role with a balance of office and care responsibilities.

Role Overview
As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in the operational and strategic leadership of the home. You will help deliver high-quality, trauma-informed care, lead and motivate the team, and ensure that children's needs are consistently met to the highest standards.
This is a role for someone with resilience, ambition, and the ability to combine leadership with hands-on practice.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Management
* Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home
* Lead by example, embedding the home's ethos and trauma-informed approach
* Participate in the on-call rota and provide leadership during incidents and staff absence
Staff Supervision & Development
* Supervise and mentor Team Leaders and Residential Support Workers
* Carry out supervisions, appraisals, and performance management
* Identify training needs and support continuous staff development
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
* Ensure compliance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Ofsted standards
* Lead internal audits on care records, medication, health, and safety
* Support preparation for Ofsted inspections and ensure the team is confident and compliant
Safeguarding & Behaviour Management
* Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)
* Promote a therapeutic and consistent approach to behaviour management
* Oversee incident reports and ensure appropriate debriefs take place
Care Planning & Child-Centred Practice
* Ensure placement plans, care plans, and risk assessments are up to date
* Promote the child's voice in all aspects of decision-making
* Support the physical, emotional, and educational development of children
Partnership Working
* Build and maintain positive relationships with social workers, parents, schools, and professionals
* Chair or participate in multi-agency meetings and advocate for the child's best interests
Health, Safety & Environment
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
* Oversee the cleanliness, maintenance, and security of the home environment
Person Specification
Essential:
* At least 2 years' experience in residential childcare
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
* Previous leadership or senior support experience
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding, trauma-informed care, and Ofsted standards
* Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills
* Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, sleep-ins, and on-call duties
Desirable:
* Working towards or willing to complete the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare
* Experience in Ofsted inspections and rota planning
