Job Purpose
To support the Company in providing a work destination its people enjoy and wish to attend. By ensuring all aspects of the Company People Strategy are implemented within the business. You will be responsible for all Human Resource practices and processes to meet legal and best practise requirements. Support the business, managers and employee needs at our Portland site to meet delivery of the projects and customer expectations.
Through the promotion of our company vision, values and recognised equality, diversity and inclusive practises to enable business success through established human resource leadership. This will include but not limited to job design, talent management and recruitment, performance management and succession planning, salary and remuneration strategies, training & development programmes, the employment lifecycle and development and implementation of people data analytics.
What You Will Do
* Develop and implement HR strategies, policies and initiatives aligned with the overall people and business strategy, goals and objectives.
* Identify and foster positive employee relations support, by early recognition of business demands, helping to promote a positive work culture that helps to maximise employee commitment and engagement whilst minimising employee disputes.
* Establish and maintain a recruitment and selection process that recognises where EDI improvements can be made utilising talent management systems to provide a recognised talent pipeline i.e. ‘LinkedIn’ Recruiter, ATS to meet future resource requirement needs.
* Keep abreast of developing strategies that can support the HR function and business in delivery of a skilled and efficient workforce to meet current and future demands through utilising HR data analytics that highlight areas for continuous improvement.
* Nurture a positive and friendly working environment to minimise retention issues and build a company brand that is seen as an engineering destination to work.
* Lead and support business transformation programmes that impact our employees through effective communication that recognising the cultural and process adjustments that are required within the organisation to realise the benefits these changes can bring.
* Develop, oversee and manage the performance appraisal system to support personal development, salary and incentives to promote high performance.
* Oversee and support the Company remuneration and benefits programme.
* Support the continuous development of our employees through the employee lifecycle to provide current and cutting-edge skills that are recognised by our people, competitors and customers as essential to the work we do. Either through the promotion of ad hoc individual skills programmes or formulated apprenticeships, graduate and STEM programmes.
* Assess training needs through recognised skills frameworks and develop employee plans to meet these needs. Aligning this development with professionally recognised competencies and accreditations.
* Report HR metrices to business leaders and support the Head of HR in developing a Company people plan and roadmap to meet the People Strategy goals.
* Ensure and maintain HR & HS legal compliance throughout the business through maintaining professional and legal knowledge, utilising external support organisations and networks.
* Train, mentor and develop other HR team members to fulfil their role and develop their career opportunities within the business.
What You Will Need
* Generalist HR experience, ideally covering the full employee lifecycle – from recruitment and onboarding to employee relations, wellbeing, and exit processes.
* Strong knowledge of UK employment law and experience applying it confidently in day-to-day decision-making.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, coach and support employees and managers at all levels.
* Experience in a standalone or SME environment (desirable) – someone who is comfortable being both strategic and hands-on.
* A collaborative mindset and a practical approach – willing to roll up your sleeves to get things done.
* CIPD qualification (Level 5 or above preferred)
* Industry Knowledge - Experience in the Defence sector would be beneficial.
* Security Clearance is essential as part of this role.

* Flexible working: We operate around the core working hours of 09:30 – 12:00 & 14:00 – 16:00. For this role we are looking for 22.5 hours a week, but it is up to you how you work those hours.
* Role-specific allowances: Subject to individual projects and roles.
* Holiday entitlement: 24 days per annum, plus public holidays. These are pro rata for part-time roles. A Christmas closedown occurs for most roles from 24th December – 2nd January, utilising your holiday entitlement.
