Overview
Join a professional, well-supported admin team that plays a vital role in delivering high-quality care across an essential NHS service. The ADHD and Autism Service is recruiting Administrative Officers/Secretaries to join our friendly admin team based in Wakefield. Our service operates across Wakefield, Bradford, Kirklees, Barnsley and Calderdale and uses a central task model with shared task lists and daily task allocations.
This role is predominantly office-based. After induction, there may be planned opportunities to work from home depending on service needs. The team values wellbeing, balance, and mutual support, and typically supports a positive work-life balance.
Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to clinicians from a range of professional backgrounds.
* Audio typing of clinical reports, manage appointment bookings, and maintain accurate records using electronic systems.
* Be a first point of contact for service users and professionals by phone and in person, maintaining a calm, friendly, and professional manner.
* Work flexibly to meet service needs and maintain good working relationships with staff and service users.
* Prioritise tasks independently, exercise initiative and judgement, and refer issues outside of competency to the Line Manager.
* Comply with established policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines, and service delivery plans.
* Communicate effectively, sensitively, and confidentially, adapting communication style to meet user needs.
Requirements
* Strong MS Office skills with excellent communication and prioritisation abilities. A Typing/Word Processing qualification to RSA III or equivalent is required.
* Recent secretarial/administrative experience and the ability to work in a busy environment with competing demands.
* Experience with audio/copy typing, note/minute taking, and using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
* Ability to handle confidential information and maintain service user privacy in line with Trust values.
Hours and Location
This is a full-time position, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Rural/remote working may be possible in line with service needs.
