Location: Cheltenham Peripheral Primary Care Network (CPPCN), Gloucestershire. CPPCN comprises 5 practices: Leckhampton, Sixways, Cleevelands, Stoke Road & Winchcombe, serving 54,000 patients.
Work focus: contribute to a team of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians with responsibilities across CPPCN sites, with travel between the five locations as required.
Job Summary
We are excited that an opportunity has arisen for a Pharmacy Technician to join our team at CPPCN.

Responsibilities
* Undertake patient facing and patient supporting roles to ensure effective medicines use, through shared decision-making conversations with patients.
* Carry out medicines optimisation tasks including effective medicine administration (e.g., checking inhaler technique), supporting medication reviews, and medicines reconciliation. Where required, utilise consultation skills to work in partnership with patients to ensure they use their medicines effectively.
* Assist in the delivery of medicines optimisation and management incentive schemes and patient safety audits.
* Support, as determined by CPPCN, medication reviews and medicines reconciliation for new care home patients and synchronising medicines for patient transfers between care settings and linking with local community pharmacists.
* Provide specialist expertise, where competent, to address both the public health and social care needs of patients, including lifestyle advice, service information, and help in tackling local health inequalities.
* Take a central role in the clinical aspects of shared care protocols and liaising with specialist pharmacists for more complex patients.
* Support antimicrobial stewardship initiatives to reduce inappropriate antibiotic prescribing.
* Support the implementation of national prescribing policies and guidance within GP practices, care homes and other primary care settings, through clinical audits (e.g., use of antibiotics), quality improvement measures, and contributing to the Quality and Outcomes Framework and enhanced services.
Qualifications & Experience
* Essential: Professional registration with GPhC.
* Essential: BTEC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences.
* Essential: Evidence of continued professional development (CPD).
* Essential: Experience of working as a qualified registered pharmacy technician in primary care or in a community or hospital pharmacy.
Skills & Attributes
* Computer literate with the ability to use GP clinical systems (desirable) and Microsoft Office packages (essential).
* Able to analyse and interpret prescribing data.
* Meticulous attention to detail; well organized and able to work independently or in a team; able to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Knowledge of data protection and confidentiality requirements.
* Full driving licence and use of a car.
Working Arrangements
Pay: £28,000 to £34,000 per year, dependent on experience. Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Full-time, Flexible working.
