Veterinary quality improvement development lead

London
RCVS Knowledge
£50,000 - £60,000 a year
Posted: 21 September
Offer description

We invite applications for a self-starting individual to drive an exciting partnership to identify, develop and implement an evidence-based quality improvement (QI) model for application into the veterinary sector, initially in farm practice but developing more widely.

QI is now widely adopted in human healthcare settings and involves a systematic and coordinated approach to improving practice. The use of QI techniques in the veterinary sector is gaining momentum; however, no sector specific, evidence-based QI model exists.

This role offers a significant opportunity to transform the quality of veterinary care for better patient outcomes and more efficient and sustainable practice. You will be exposed to high-profile, influential stakeholders, across veterinary organisations and practice groups, providing an ideal opportunity to build your professional networks, while also raising your profile as an emerging leader for veterinary QI.

This is funded through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP); a UK Government scheme promoting sustained and mutually beneficial relationships between universities and industry.

You will manage the project, fully supported by leading academic experts within University of Nottingham's School of Veterinary Medicine and Science and Nottingham University Business School. You will be employed by the University of Nottingham but be part of the RCVS Knowledge team, working at the RCVS Knowledge central London offices at least one day a week, with flexibility to work remotely for some of the time.

Working directly with RCVS Knowledge's Head of Quality Improvement, you will navigate between commercial requirements and technical challenges. You will interact regularly with RCVS Knowledge's subject matter and marketing and communications teams. You will be supported by staff at the University of Nottingham to conduct high quality research.

You will be actively mentored to nurture your talent, with £2,000 pa for training, as well as intensive management and commercial training via the KTP programme. The KTP offers a highly competitive salary package, with UoN committed to providing employment support to help staff reach their full potential. You will have access to the resources of UoN and a range of benefits and rewards, including staff discounts, travel schemes and an attractive pension scheme.

You will hold a minimum of a master's degree with a research component in veterinary medicine/science, veterinary nursing, QI, behaviour change, or a related discipline. You should have experience of working with and coordinating a range of different stakeholders, and experience with managing projects. A background in working within an applied clinical veterinary or agricultural setting and some experience of teaching or the development of teaching courses is desirable.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Dr Marnie Brennan ) or Dr Sarah Hewitt ). Please note that applications sent directly to these email addresses will not be accepted.
