We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Charnwood to assist with the appointment of a Principal Planning Officer, on a 2.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £40.69 - £54.00 per hour
Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Principal Planning Officer to support the delivery of major development and development management services. The role involves managing complex planning applications, providing expert planning advice, leading negotiations on major schemes, preparing committee reports, and representing the Council at appeals, hearings, and public inquiries.
Responsibilities:
* Manage major, complex, and controversial planning applications
* Provide pre-application advice to developers, applicants, and stakeholders
* Undertake site inspections, research, and planning assessments
* Lead negotiations on planning matters including Section 106 Agreements
* Prepare detailed planning reports and recommendations for committee
* Present applications at Planning and Regulatory Committee meetings
* Lead Development Teams for major applications and Planning Performance Agreements
Qualifications:
* Degree in Town and Country Planning or related subject
* Membership of the RTPI
Essential Requirements:
* Substantial recent experience within Development Management handling complex planning applications and appeals
* Strong knowledge of planning legislation, policy, and development management processes
* Excellent report writing, negotiation, and presentation skills
* Experience presenting at committees and public meetings
* Ability to analyse complex planning issues and work to deadlines
