We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Purchasing Manager to join our purchasing team within the wider Materials team. The role reports to the Senior Materials Manager and involves planning and implementing procurement activities for materials, parts, components, and equipment.
Responsibilities
* Direct and lead all purchasing activities to continually improve cost, quality, supplier relations, and strategic sourcing in alignment with the company’s strategic goals.
* Review and approve purchases.
* Develop policies and procedures for local procurement operations and collaborate with Strategic Purchasing on global suppliers.
* Monitor cost, schedule, and performance of major subcontracts.
* Coordinate purchasing with Engineering and Manufacturing to maintain planned inventory levels.
* Advise subordinates to meet schedules and resolve technical problems.
* Assist in establishing and maintaining the production control system.
* Establish standard costs for assigned purchase items following company processes.
* Support site buyers on supply/price escalations, receipt discrepancies, and local improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
* Degree in a technical or business field or equivalent experience and training.
* Previous experience within the supply chain profession.
* Knowledge of plant manufacturing processes, material and production control, and material specifications.
* Some knowledge of P&L, cash flow statements, and reading D&B reports.
* Awareness of global supply‑chain trends (e.g., raw material consumption, ROHs, low‑cost‑country trends).
* Experience in contract reviews.
* Strong knowledge of MRP systems (Oracle advantage).
* Highly proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
* Strong working knowledge of product life cycle and development processes.
* Strong project‑management skills, team‑building, and multitasking ability.
* Negotiation and supply‑base relationship skills.
* Proven track record of leading and developing a team.
* Strong communication skills, verbal and electronic, across all levels.
* Ability to build relationships and drive change within a culturally diverse workforce.
