Youth Justice Officer
Location: Walsall Civic Centre (with travel across the Borough and to Wolverhampton Court)
Contract: 06/10/2025 – 05/01/2026
Hours: 37 per week (Mon–Fri, 09:00–17:30)
Rate: £33.30 (Umbrella)
We are seeking an experienced Youth Justice Officer to join Walsall’s Youth Justice Team. The role involves carrying full case management responsibilities, supporting children and young people through assessment, planning, intervention, and court processes to reduce offending and improve outcomes.
What You’ll Do:
Undertake assessments including ASSET+ and Prevention & Diversion Assessment Tool (PDAT).
Develop and implement plans tailored to the needs and risks of young people.
Deliver targeted interventions to reduce offending and reoffending.
Prepare high-quality Pre-Sentence Reports and Referral Order Reports for court.
Attend court hearings and provide professional evidence as required.
Fulfil duty responsibilities as part of the team.
Participate in joint decision-making panels and referral order panels.
Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to safeguard and support young people.
What We’re Looking For Essential:
Relevant qualification (accepted backgrounds include Social Work, Probation, Youth Work, or other relevant degrees).
Proven Youth Justice experience (essential).
Strong knowledge of youth justice legislation, safeguarding, and risk management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in report writing for courts.
Ability to work effectively with children, families, and partner agencies.
Flexible and resilient, with the ability to manage a demanding caseload.
