Engineering Director

As they expand our offerings in specialty travel and events, they are seeking a visionary Engineering Director to lead this growth, oversee the development of innovative platforms, and help us continue redefining industry standards in an accelerated, high-impact setting.
In this strategic leadership role, you will manage and mentor multiple engineering teams across different locations, with plans to establish a strong presence in new markets. You will shape the technical vision, build scalable systems, and partner closely with product and business leaders to deliver complex, industry-leading solutions—culminating in a major product launch set for next summer. Your hands-on expertise and industry insight will be essential in delivering impactful products that prioritize user privacy, operational excellence, and innovative AI integrations.
Required Skills:
1. 10+ years of software development experience, with at least 5 years leading and managing cross-functional teams and 3+ years managing engineering managers
2. Proven success in building, scaling, and operating large-scale backend systems with high reliability
3. Deep technical expertise in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure (AWS), and modern API-driven architectures
4. JAVA led programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Java, Angular, React)
5. Hands-on, collaborative leadership style—able to code, troubleshoot, and guide teams through complex technical challenges
6. Excellent communicator with experience working across diverse teams and multiple time zones
Nice to Have Skills:
7. Experience or familiarity with complex logistical platforms or the travel industry
8. Experience guiding AI-driven workflows and data-driven decision-making
9. Prior involvement in start-up environments or rapid product iteration cycles, especially in high-growth settings
10. Knowledge of industry partnerships, vendor integrations, and standards adoption
Preferred Education and Experience:
11. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
12. At least 10 years of relevant software engineering experience, with extensive leadership in fast-paced, start-up-like environments working with major clients and Fortune 500 companies

13. Willingness to work on-site in London, with flexibility to engage across multiple locations and time zones
14. Ability to manage high-visibility projects and deliver solutions on aggressive timelines
