Collaborates With: School Success Teams (ACMs), Teacher Support Teams (SSC), Product & Marketing
Role Purpose
We're looking for someone who loves people as much as they love a well‑organised pipeline. This isn't a hard‑sell role, it's about building genuine, lasting relationships with educators and making every single one feel like they're the only school we're working with.
As a key member of our New Schools Team, you'll take event leads and warm enquiries and guide them through the Educake journey. Every touch point is important - from that first conversation all the way through to subscription and beyond.
We play the long game here. We want more than quick wins and forgotten customers. We want educators to feel genuinely supported, to see real value in what we offer, and to become advocates for Educake within their schools and trusts.
Why This Role is Important
Sales is central to our strategy. We're growing, and this role is at the heart of that growth. But we grow the right way which we believe is through trust, through genuine relationships, and through making educators' lives easier.
The person in this role will often be the first impression many schools get of Educake. That's a big deal. Every email, every demo, every follow‑up call is a chance to show an educator that we genuinely care about their challenges and that we're here to help — not just to sell.
We're a tight‑knit team with a brilliant culture. We work hard, we support each other.
Our core values are caring, informal, efficient, and innovative. They aren't just words on a wall. They shape how we work every single day.
A Busy Role — In the Best Possible Way
This role is full‑on and busy. Right now, we’re actively managing 260 different subject trials across schools, whilst simultaneously identifying and nurturing new opportunities. That’s a lot to hold in your head, and it requires someone who genuinely thrives in a fast‑moving environment.
What makes the difference isn’t just working hard. It’s thinking smart. You’ll need to build your own processes and ways of working that let you stay on top of every lead, every trial, and every follow‑up without things slipping. We’ll support you with HubSpot, with best practice that works and the wider team, but the ability to think on your feet, create sensible systems, and stay agile whilst keeping every interaction meaningful is absolutely essential here.
If you’re someone who gets energy from variety and finds satisfaction in bringing order to complexity, you’ll love it here.
Key Responsibilities
Product Demos
* A big part of your role will be delivering demos that feel personal and relevant, not off-the-shelf. You'll take the time to understand each school's challenges before you even open the platform, so when you show them Educake, it feels like it was built just for them.
* The demo is just the beginning. You'll follow up thoughtfully, answer questions, share useful resources, and keep the relationship warm. Clear and detailed notes after every interaction mean nothing slips through the cracks for you or for the wider team.
Event Lead Engagement
* Where possible, you'll attend events and engage face‑to‑face with potential leads. After events, you'll own the follow‑up, reaching out promptly, keeping educators interested, and ensuring everyone who showed curiosity in Educake knows exactly where to go next.
Lead Qualification & Nurturing
* Not every lead is ready to subscribe straight away and that's absolutely fine. You'll take a consultative approach to understand where each school is in their journey, qualify leads thoughtfully, and nurture those who aren't quite ready yet without letting them go cold.
Collaboration with Account Managers
* You'll work hand‑in‑hand with our Account Managers to make sure every lead transition is seamless. The handover from your initial nurturing work to ongoing account management should feel completely invisible to the educator so they feel one consistent, caring experience.
* You'll share feedback from demos and conversations with our product, marketing, and customer success teams. Your insights from the frontline are genuinely valuable and help shape how we develop and position Educake.
* You'll own your section of the pipeline keeping HubSpot accurate, up to date, and genuinely useful. Great organisation isn't a nice‑to‑have in this role, it's what makes everything else possible. Leads are followed up promptly, every conversation is logged, and nothing gets lost.
Skills & Attributes
We're not looking for the loudest person in the room. We're looking for someone who:
* Builds relationships naturally and makes people feel genuinely heard and valued
* Is meticulously organised. You juggle multiple leads without dropping a single one
* Has excellent attention to detail. Your notes are clear, your CRM is tidy, and your follow‑ups are timely
* Communicates warmly and clearly, whether that's in writing, on a call, or in person
* Takes a consultative approach — you ask great questions and listen before you recommend
* Is a strong team player who keeps colleagues informed and works collaboratively
* Is adaptable and proactive — you find solutions rather than problems
* Has a genuine interest in education and in making a difference for teachers and students
* Thrives on variety and can switch between tasks without losing momentum or detail
What Great Looks Like in This Role
The best person in this role will make every educator feel like they're the only school we're supporting. They'll be the kind of person who remembers the details such as the teacher who mentioned their Year 10s are struggling, the HoD who said they'd review the budget in January. They'll follow up at exactly the right moment, with exactly the right message.
They'll keep HubSpot immaculate. Every lead will be tagged correctly, every call will be logged, every next step will be in the diary. The pipeline will tell a clear story at any given moment.
They'll love what we do and why we do it — and that passion will come through in every interaction.
A Note From Us
We're a small team doing something we genuinely believe in which is making formative assessment meaningful for teachers and more effective for students. We work hard, we laugh a lot, and we look after each other.
If you're the kind of person who gets a buzz from a really good follow‑up email, who colour‑codes their calendar and genuinely cares about the people they work with then we'd love to hear from you.
