Grove Surgery in the busy market town of Thetford is recruiting a practice-based nurse.

We are seeking someone to work full time; we can be flexible with the days worked.
You will be providing nursing services to patients on the practice list, including assessment, advice within the professional competence of the post holder, screening, and treatment. Extra training will be provided for new duties undertaken.
Main duties of the job
1. Undertaking health assessments, administering medication and treatments, and performing diagnostic tests.
2. Providing and evaluating a range of health interventions to ensure that patients health and social care needs are met.
3. General health and well-being promotion as well as creating individual, person-centred plans for patients with, or at risk of, a long term condition.
4. Managing and treating long-term conditions, in line with national and local policies and the practice needs.
5. Reviewing medication for therapeutic effectiveness, in accordance with evidence-based practice as well as national and practice protocols; working with patients to support their adherence to prescribed treatments.
6. Prioritising health problems and intervening appropriately, to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.
7. Supporting and managing the health needs of women presenting for sexual health and contraception, and cervical cytology consultations.
8. Implementing, and participating in, vaccination and immunisation programmes for both adults and children, including patients travelling abroad.
9. Meeting the needs of patients presenting for opportunistic wound care.

Grove Surgery has a list size of 13000 patients. We are a friendly and dynamic surgery delivering excellent care to our patients and providing a positive and supporting working environment.
We are a teaching practice and support the training of nursing associates, physician associates, medical students and GP registrars. We have a dedicated research unit. We are leading the way in Norfolk for research. There may be an opportunity to work in dual locations between research and the surgery.
We have an exceptional multi-disciplinary team including nurses, healthcare assistants, social prescriber, care-coordinator, paramedics, physician associates, clinical pharmacist, and pharmacy technician who work alongside our GPs to ensure our patients receive the best care available.

Essential
10. A relevant nursing degree.
11. Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
12. Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or equivalent experience or qualifications.
13. Competence to undertake asthma, COPD and diabetic clinics and reviews, holding relevant certificates.
Experience

14. Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations, assisting with minor surgery, dressing and wound care, and recording spirometry.
15. Compassionate manner with an empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work. The successful candidate will value the dignity of our patients, their relatives and carers, as well as their colleagues at the practice.
16. Knowledge, and experience of its application, in supporting long-term conditions.
17. Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the wider NHS.
