The Role:
An opportunity has arisen within South Wales Police to join the Learning and Development Assessment and Standards Unit (ASU) as a Professional Development IQA.
You will be responsible for:
The management and development of Internal Quality Assurance activity, process and standardisation for the Level 4 and Level 5 Police Management qualifications, ensuring that South Wales Police meets quality standards, assessment requirements and maintains approved status with the Awarding Organisation.
The initial training and on-going assessment, professional development management of newly qualified Trainers (NQTs), experienced Trainers, Assessors, Training Development Officers (TDOs) and Unit Internal Quality Assurers (IQAs) across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
To ensure assessors comply with qualification requirements as defined by the appropriate Awarding Bodies.
To provide regular management information to BCU/Department Senior Management Teams.
To engage with Inspectors, Chief Inspectors and Superintendents to address poor performance of both learners and assessors.
To prepare information to support NPPF Panel Meetings with the ACC.
To be responsible for the design, delivery, assessment and evaluation of trainer, assessor and quality assurance programmes to South Wales Police officers and staff, working with external bodies as necessary.
To plan and carry out formative and summative internal quality assurance, in line with internal quality assurance processes and external Awarding Organisation requirements, when applicable.
To liaise with Awarding Organisations and External Partners as required.
Apply creative and innovative design approaches, including blended and online training, which optimise audience engagement through images, animations, video, audio and interactions to reinforce learning.
What qualifications and skills do we need you to bring to the role:
Must have a good standard of education to at least GCSE A-C Level, including Maths and English, or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills and abilities.
Possess a suitable teaching or training qualification e.g. Training Essentials Programme (TEP), Level 4 Certificate in Education & Training, PGCE (adult education), Cert.Ed. (adult education) etc.
Possess a recognised Assessor Qualification e.g. Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA), A1, D32/33 etc.
Possess a recognised Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) qualification e.g. Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes & Practices, V1/D34 etc.
Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft applications.
Must have previous experience of writing reports and/or guidance.
Must be able to collect, compile, process, analyse and present statistical data and other information.
Must be able to network and develop professional relationships.
Must be able to manage multiple deadlines and deliver results through effective planning and organisation of won time and workload, working methodically, accurately and with minimum supervision.
Must be able to work under pressure, exercise judgement and display absolute confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
