About the Role
West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated Restorative Justice Officer to join the West Berkshire Youth Justice Support team. The role involves delivering high‑quality restorative justice services within a supportive and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
* Deliver restorative justice interventions to children and young people, ensuring their needs are met and supporting them in achieving positive outcomes.
* Work closely with professionals such as social workers and educators to provide comprehensive support to individuals engaged in restorative processes.
* Assess and manage risks associated with restorative justice interventions.
* Facilitate restorative conferences and meetings, promoting effective communication and understanding between parties involved.
* Monitor and evaluate the impact of restorative justice interventions, providing feedback and reports as required.
Qualifications
* Experience and knowledge of restorative justice principles and practices, ideally within a Youth Justice Service context.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, young people, and other stakeholders.
* Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities, with the capacity to manage a diverse caseload effectively.
* A collaborative approach, working well within a team and also independently when required.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
* Ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English (public facing role).
Contract Details
Fixed term until 14th June 2027 – maternity cover.
